About us

Ramagundam, widely recognized as the “Coal City “/ "Town of Energy," is a premier industrial hub in the Peddapalli district of Telangana, India, spanning an area of 104.34 Sq Km along the Godavari River. Located about 250 KM north east of Telangana State Capital, Hyderabad. Ramagundam is located 18.8 degrees N latitude 79.45 degree E ,Longitude and  It has average elevation of 179 meters ( 590 Feet ) above sea level. According to local heritage, the city's name combines "Rama" (the Hindu deity) and "Gundam" (water springs), marking the sacred landscape where Lord Rama created natural water springs during his exile.

Governed by the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation (RMC), the city features a unique integrated urban ecosystem known as the "Four Cities" cluster:

  • Godavarikhani: The commercial heart and primary mining hub.
  • NTPC (Jyothi Nagar): The core power generation zone.
  • Ramagundam: The historic town center and vital railway gateway.
  • Eight Incline Colony: The premier model township anchoring the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) mining community.

Core Industrial and Production Profile:

The local economy drives both regional infrastructure and national grids through massive production entities:

  • Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL): Ramagundam serves as a primary coal-mining axis for SCCL. The region features the Ramagundam Coal Mine Project, an integrated mega venture unlocking 315 million tonnes of recoverable reserves. This unified project holds an annual production capacity of 21 million tonnes (210 lakh tonnes) per annum, making it the highest-capacity mine venture in SCCL's history.
  • Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL): This revived gas-based chemical giant possesses an annual production capacity of 12.7 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) of neem-coated urea per year. It runs a single-stream manufacturing setup outputting roughly 3,850 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) of urea to feed agricultural demands across southern and central India.
  • NTPC Ramagundam: Operates a diversified power portfolio of 2,710 MW (2,600 MW thermal, 100 MW floating solar and 10 MW ground solar). The 1,600 MW Phase-II mega supercritical thermal expansions is currently underway to augment output.
  • UltraTech Cement & TG GENCO: Features a major cement manufacturing unit at nearby Basanth Nagar. TG GENCO handles local power infrastructure, with active blueprints to transition aging units into a modern 800 MW supercritical thermal plant.
